Just a quick chime in from an Apache Tech:
Contrary to some of the comments thrown around here, this is indeed a AH64D model, based on several key details: The L shape of the Intermediate Gear Box fairing (AH64A have an uglier cut), the air speed sensors on the engine nacelles (AH64A don't have those), the location of the chaff/flare launches, and the bulkiness of the forward avionics bays (AH64A FABS are noticeably thinner in both width and height) .

However, the two helicopters portrayed here actually have the old AH64A air data sensors installed on top of their main rotors, which makes them look like AH64A at first glance, if you don't look at the details too closely. Being a AH64A mechanic myself I'm obviously biased and I think the old air data sensors look much cooler than those ugly bulky radomes. :D

AH64D don't need to have a bulky radome mounted on their main rotors. Radomes can be installed and removed based on the mission.
IIRC only one heli in a formation needs a radome, and the others will be able to operate based on the one "leader", so the others can instead have a sort of small flat "stump" piece installed on top of their main rotor, with the stump being much lighter.
AFAIK AH64D can interface with the old air data sensors so some AH64D operator out in the world may actually be using a configuration like the one shown here. In my country only (and all) A models use the old sensors, while the D models use either a radome or a stump.

Anyhow, now that I got that chip off my shoulder, I'd just like to say that this actually might be my favorite Apache image ever, I absolutely love the colors and angles on this one.

First off, I love the texture and the modelling done. Great job. But this isn't the longbow, it's a AH-64 Apache. The Longbow is a later edition of the first Apaches, and were upgraded with a sophisticated suite of on-board sensors and computer technology that allows them to control drones, shoot missiles from behind hills without ever seeing their targets, and communicate more effectively. As a result, they are slightly different in appearance from the other Apaches. The most obvious being a large dome on top of the the main rotor blades.

Still, this is a beautiful piece. Very well done man!

The 3D rendering is cool with the texture and Kanji symbol on the Tail, But the AH-64D "Longbow Apache" Does have a Radar Dome on the Main Rotor Axel, A key feature upgrade from the AH-64A "Apache", Details makes the picture perfect, Lovely Simply lovely.

Thx for the comment. But it's not Kanji symbol on the tail. If you look closer it's actually a painted tag/symbol of a silhouette of a soldier on the grave of fallen soldier friend , and the cross is casting the shadow across him, so that why it's maybe unrecognizable of the first glance.

The detail on this is f*cking crazy. :XD:

Awesome work! Those Apache look like they've taken their fair amount of time to make. :)

This was more of a project for modeling/texturing learning process. I see a lot of mistakes now. In the near future i'm planing to to Kamov k27, even more detailed, with custom hi res textures, and a lot of new rendering/compositioning tricks i'v learned so far. Stay tuned.

Good luck with that. It's always good to note one's own mistakes and work on them to improve further. The attitude every good artist should embrace. :)

Actually this is a 3d modeling, not a drawing. But it has that painterly vibe to renders, so it looks like a matte painting a little bit. Thx.
